Outstanding

This really is amazing, I can feel the emotion behind it's creation. The section with the rain and the breathing just is surprisingly simple yet incredibly effective, I found my heart to be racing, feeling abandoned and alone. Plus the beat is great.

I also like how you've left it up to interpretation. It really is superb work and can tell how much of your feeling is in it. I don't think anymore really even needs to be said.

dude. people like you are the reason i make music.

Whoa!

It was amazing, then that break out at 3:17 freaked me out, that's so frickin' sweet! I really love it when orchestral and any means of electronic work can be blended together, and this just works so well. At the intro, I wasn't sure what to expect as it slowly built up, but then once the bass hit I knew it was going to be awesome. The epic sounding strings played over the bass just sounds so cool, and it's also great that each side has it's own solo time as well, some alone calm strings and the dubstep heavy bass.

It's really great and I hope you carry this concept further into other pieces!

Thanks for a review, man.

Epic

I'll agree with you that this version is better. I felt the first one wasn't necessarily "thin" as you said, but this one brings out a lot more and gives the piece a wholly epic feel, as if it's from a soundtrack to a movie. In fact, I can totally see it as music that would play over intro credits, as the camera sweeps the hillsides.

You sure can paint a picture with your music, great work.

And that is a shame about the file, sorry to hear that, but at least you got this much out of it.

Step responds:

Thanks for reviewing this one now. Much appreciated!

Thank goodness for that :3.

Haha maybe I thought of it as very thin after comparing it with this one :P.

But thanks for comparing this to a movie soundtrack. People tend to do that with my songs and I'm OK with that I guess!

Good to hear :). I try and aim on making my orchestral pieces have a certain identifiable atmosphere to them. Makes all the difference in my opinion.

True. Would've loved to continue it though.

Anyhow thanks a lot for the supportive review!

Marching On

I really like this song, but I like the image it creates even more. Green grassy open field at dawn, soldiers preparing for battle and then marching on. It gives a great sense of "epic" but still seems to display that it's war and isn't all glorious (especially around 1:05 to the end). Really solid work in layering it all, it flows together beautifully ^^

Step responds:

Thanks! This is one of my first songs made with East/West Symphonic Orchestra and I'm still quite proud of it. The marching feel to it is probably coming from the snare beat.

Thanks a lot for reviewing!

Outstanding!

Truly, this deserves top 5 and more! The melody is amazing and, while short, does a great job of... Well, being awesome. I really can't pick a part out of this that I don't care for. It all flows together perfectly to my ears. Really, just great, makes me want to hear a lot more from you.

Step responds:

Thank you!

If you're in to this stuff then I'm afraid my other songs aren't anywhere like this one, with it being my first attempt and all :P.

But yeah, really glad you enjoyed listening to it. Thanks for the review!

Wonderful

I remember hearing an incomplete version of this and looping it over and over again. I must have missed somewhere when this was finished. It's so great in all of it's transitions; it illustrates grand imagery of darkness, but... More like epic darkness. The kind of darkness that is so epic, you can't help but wander into... And then get lost in...

Enjoy'd

Ok, yes. I'm a sucker for techno/classical sounding pieces. So this will be a bit biased and not as real of a review, but still, here it goes:

The beginning. I was gasping for air due to my excitement and anticipation. Then at 0:15 the synth kicked in and shortly after there was the slight drum which became more pronounced around 0:36. I loved that intro SO MUCH! It really brought me into the piece. I was just loving everything, especially the section from 0:45 to 1:26. Then, well, it got a tad odd with the random transition. It sounded like there was a bit of swing to it, then it tried to go away. That part was just awkward. Around 1:48 or so, you put the song back on track. Then at 2:06 on out, the synth/classical/dnb sounds made me love the piece all over again. You seriously put all my favorite things into about 30 seconds.

So, the breakdown. The awkward part in the middle bugged me a bit too much, mostly because it just seemed really out of place. I would give it a 9/10 for that, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I do like the song a lot, it is really great. So we'll go with my personal opinion, which seems to contrast yours. Keep up the good work! =)

Wow, what a review! Thankyou very much =D.

Truly Wonderful

It's such a powerful and inspirational piece. You both have done an amazing job putting this together. And I completely agree how it sounds so uplifting yet dark at the same time, quite reflecting of life itself. I will enjoy listening to this many times more in the future. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your kind review! :)

Yay!

I'm always put in such a wonderful mood when I hear new songs from you. It's such a happy song! I really love it at 2:30 when everything comes back in, it just sounds so awesome! And while it does sound similar to the others, it totally is its own unique piece. So... Where to race next? =D

And it would be super cool if you made a flash from the "race" songs ^.^

Waterflame responds:

aww, thats awesome :') thats just what i want to share, and acomplish! ^-^ thanks!
Heh yeah :D

Wonderful

I really loved the melody of this entire song, but the rain sound effect became very distracting and annoying as the song went on. I think if it faded out at some point earlier on in the song, it would allow the main melody to shine through. The harp does an amazing job of illustrating rain falling though and I don't think the rain is really needed. Again, love this song =D

Thanks for your review. I made a no SFX version if you want me to upload it here or I could just send it to you.
